What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website stores in your browser. The browser's local storage (localStorage and sessionStorage) does the same job in another way, so we treat it the same here. Some are needed for the website to work. The others are only used if you give your consent, as required by Portuguese Law 41/2004, article 5.
Who is responsible
The controller is GSX Portugal, Unipessoal, Lda. (tax number 514779012), which organises the Algarve Marathon under the GlobalSport brand. The third-party cookies on this page are set by Google, Microsoft, Meta and Cloudflare. Google, Microsoft and Meta may process this data in the United States, under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
How your choice works
On your first visit a notice appears with three buttons at the same level, Accept all, Reject non-essential and Customise. Until you choose, the website loads no third-party tools and stores no statistics or marketing cookies.
Google Tag Manager is the container that holds Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity and the Meta pixel. It only loads after you accept Statistics or Marketing. If you reject, none of this loads. If you accept Marketing only, Google Analytics sends measurements without storing cookies in your browser, because Statistics stays refused.
Your choice, accept or reject, is kept in your browser for 6 months. After that we ask again.

They measure the Algarve Marathon ads on Facebook and Instagram and allow them to be shown to people who have visited the website. In the reading of 28 October 2026 we found no other marketing tools.
