Vilamoura
The Marina is the heart of the event, start and finish for all four distances. Staying nearby means walking to race registration, to the warm up and to the start line, then walking back without depending on transport at the moment your legs feel heaviest. Around it there are restaurants, terraces and a waterfront promenade that works both for loosening up the day before and for recovering the day after.
Loule
The municipality hosting the first edition extends the trip beyond the coastline. Loule market, the hills, the inland villages and Algarve cooking add another dimension to the weekend, especially for those travelling with someone and looking to fill the hours while the athlete is racing.
December in the Algarve
The season works in favour of runners. Temperatures are mild, tourist pressure is low and accommodation is more affordable than in summer. A race weekend easily becomes four or five days in the destination.
