The Algarve Marathon is born with the ambition of becoming a benchmark race in the national and international road-running calendar.
The event brings together sport, tourism promotion, community and the value of the Algarve region, under the motto "Much more than a marathon".
The vision
To create a race with its own identity, anchored in Vilamoura, in the municipality of Loulé and in the Algarve, able to attract runners, companions, visitors and brands interested in sport, active tourism and destination experiences.

Vilamoura offers a renowned setting and a direct connection to the region. Marina de Vilamoura, as start and finish, gives the event a strong visual presence and a clear association with lifestyle, tourism and major events.
Why December
Holding the race in December reinforces its strategic role in bringing life to the region outside the high season, helping to position the Algarve as an active destination all year round.
Organisation and partners
The event is organised by GlobalSport, with the support of Algarve Tourism, Loulé Town Council, the Arrow Global Group and Vilamoura World.
